lastGLANCE Privacy Policy
Last updated October 16, 2026
lastGLANCE tracks when you last did recurring chores and, with People, when you were last in touch with the people who matter to you. Everything you enter (chores, completions, people, their dates, logged contacts and notes) is stored on your device. This policy explains what lastGLANCE accesses, where your data can go, and who controls it.
Who we are
GLANCE Apps is an independent software studio publishing applications including dayGLANCE, lifeGLANCE, and lastGLANCE. GLANCE Apps is a Colorado registered trade name of Jason Krellner and is the party responsible for the data practices described in this policy.
This policy covers lastGLANCE specifically. For our publisher-level practices and the glance-apps.com website, see the GLANCE Apps privacy policy.
Data we do not collect
- We do not collect personal information.
- We do not use analytics or tracking.
- We do not have user accounts.
- We do not store your data on any server we operate. (The web app may use a stateless relay for sync traffic, described below; it stores nothing.)
Note for the web app: the web version of lastGLANCE may relay WebDAV requests through a stateless proxy we host, because browsers block many direct requests. Your server address, credentials and data pass through it in transit and are never stored or logged. The Android and iOS apps connect to your server directly.
Data the app accesses
Every feature below is optional, and nothing reaches GLANCE Apps.
Phone contacts (People)
On Android and iOS, lastGLANCE can read your phone's contacts to import people or link a person to a contact. This is off by default. lastGLANCE asks for contacts permission only after you turn on Phone contacts in Settings and confirm an in-app explanation, and you can turn it off or revoke the permission at any time. Access is read-only: lastGLANCE never adds, changes, or deletes your contacts.
- When you import, lastGLANCE saves the contacts you choose as people, with their names and dates (such as birthdays), in the app's local storage.
- When you link a person to a contact, lastGLANCE remembers which contact it is on that device only. The link is not synced.
- Phone numbers and email addresses are read at the moment you tap Call, Text or Email, and a contact photo when you open the person. They are handed to your phone's dialer, messaging or mail app, or shown on screen, and are not stored by lastGLANCE.
Imported people leave your device only if you turn on sync, as described below.
Sync
lastGLANCE can sync to destinations you configure: a WebDAV server (such as Nextcloud), a GLANCEvault instance, or a folder that a sync tool you choose (such as Syncthing, Nextcloud, Google Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive or FolderSync) keeps in step across your devices. Sync is off by default. Your People data travels as its own file or vault collection, alongside your chores, and uses the same encryption as your chores.
- GLANCEvault: your data is always encrypted on your device before it is sent. The server stores encrypted content only.
- WebDAV: encryption is optional and off by default. Turn it on in Cloud Sync to encrypt your data before upload. Otherwise it is stored on your server as plain text, protected by that server's own access controls.
- Folder sync: encryption is a per-device switch in Cloud Sync. The file is stored wherever your sync tool keeps that folder and is governed by that tool's privacy policy.
Your encryption passphrase is never stored. The key derived from it is kept on your device (in the Android Keystore on Android) so you are not asked for it on every launch. If you forget your passphrase, encrypted data cannot be recovered.
Household: if you share lastGLANCE with your household, the members' display names are kept in a small shared file on your sync destination so other GLANCE Apps can recognize the same people. This file is not encrypted. It stays on the destination you control.
Connections to other GLANCE Apps and automation
These are off by default, and each one runs only through the sync destinations you set up for it. They send nothing to GLANCE Apps.
- dayGLANCE: lastGLANCE can send chores, a reminder to get in touch with someone whose catch-up is overdue, and today's birthdays and other dates to dayGLANCE as tasks, and receive completions back.
- lifeGLANCE: for people you choose, lastGLANCE can add each contact you log to your lifeGLANCE timeline.
- Automation apps such as Tasker (Android): other apps on your phone can ask lastGLANCE to add or complete a chore, log a contact or open a screen, and read summary counts such as how many chores are overdue.
These messages use the GLANCEintents protocol and can be encrypted with your sync passphrase.
Notifications and widgets
Chore reminders, date reminders and the daily catch-up digest are scheduled on your device. Home screen and Lock Screen widgets read a summary of your chores and people (names, how long since you were in touch, upcoming dates) that the app saves on your device. None of this is sent anywhere.
Third-party services
lastGLANCE does not integrate with any third-party analytics, advertising, or data brokers. The only third-party services involved are those you choose to use:
- Your WebDAV / Nextcloud sync server
- A GLANCEvault instance you run
- The tool that keeps your sync folder in step, if you use folder sync
- Your phone's dialer, messaging and mail apps, when you tap Call, Text or Email
- Google Play (purchases, on the Google Play version only)
Purchases
The Google Play version offers an optional unlock, processed entirely by Google Play. We do not see or store your payment information. Purchase status is checked on your device through Google Play and is not sent to us. Google's privacy policy governs payment processing.
Children's privacy
Our Apps are not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes materially, we will update the "Last updated" date above and note the change in the app's release notes.
